Leah Phillips Interiors is growing! We are seeking a talented and experienced Residential Interior Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for creating exceptional living spaces, a keen eye for detail, and a strong understanding of design principles. Working collaboratively with the Principal Designer, you will lead projects from concept development to completion, collaborating closely with clients, architects, contractors, vendors and fellow designers to deliver outstanding results.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Take ownership of residential design projects, from initial client meetings, procurement and deliveries to final installation, ensuring all aspects align with the client's vision, budget, and timeline.

  • Conceptualization: Develop innovative and functional design concepts that reflect clients' lifestyles, preferences, and aesthetic sensibilities.

  • Space Planning: Utilize your expertise in space planning to optimize the layout and flow of residential interiors, maximizing both functionality and visual appeal.

  • Material and Finishes Selection: Source and specify materials, finishes, furnishings, and accessories that enhance the overall design concept while meeting quality and budgetary requirements. Candidate must bring a strong knowledge of fabric, wallpaper and furniture vendors including lesser known unique brands. 

  • Develop visual presentations, furniture plans, custom finishes, merchandise proposals for client presentations. 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with architects, contractors, installers, workrooms and other stakeholders to coordinate design efforts and ensure seamless project execution. Coordinate vendor and installer site visits, workroom visits. Expected to respond to delivery teams, GCs or trades that need immediate attention. 

  • Client Interaction: Build strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional service, communication, and guidance throughout the design process. 

  • Team Leadership: Mentor junior designers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to foster their professional growth and development.

  • Trend Awareness: Stay abreast of current design trends, innovations, and best practices, integrating them thoughtfully into design projects while maintaining a timeless aesthetic.

  • Budget Management: Oversee project budgets, tracking expenses, and making informed decisions to ensure projects are completed within financial parameters.

  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of quality and craftsmanship throughout all phases of the design process, conducting regular site visits and inspections to ensure adherence to specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture education.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential interior design, with a proven track record of successfully completed projects and portfolio.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Workspace, Asana, Canva, Ivy/HouzzPro a bonus.

  • Strong understanding of construction principles, building codes, and regulations.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

  • Professional certification (e.g., NCIDQ) is a plus.
